SLOBODAN MILOSEVIC’S LETTER TO THE SPS REGARDING THE UPCOMING PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS IN SERBIA
Translation by: Taras Bulba
STATEMENT IN
REGARDS TO THE ELECTIONS
With
regard to the forthcoming elections in
Serbia
I envision that the whole opposition bloc must enter the election together -
with a mutual candidate.
The core
of that bloc must be the three parties which embodied the government of the
people up until the year 2000, and who, during the war, defended the nation by
all means. During the bombing, the leadership of these parties was in
Serbia and was
at the disposal of the people.
These
parties, and their representatives must gather together all opposition parties -
that is, all those parties and individuals who are patriotically orientated and
who have the same attitude towards the political rulers in
Serbia.
It is with
that in mind that I believe that during these elections we must support Vojislav
Seselj as the mutual candidate of the patriotically orientated parties and
individuals.
Bringing
out more candidates in this instance, especially from the side of the strongest
opposition parties, will result in the splitting of votes, which will only
empower the quisling marionette-like regime to manipulate the election results.
At this
time, the main interest of the people and the nation is to demolish this
quisling government. That interest must be pre-eminent over any individual
interest of whatever party.
Until Victory!
The Hague – August 10, 2002
