Ljug, 9 June: Automatic rifle shots were fired last night at a house in the settlement of Ljug, which is being used by Serb returnees until their homes are ready.

Rados Vulic from the Kosovo Coordination Centre said that the attack occurred at 0030 [2230 gmt] while there were 10 people in the house, who are waiting for the completion of building work on their houses in Ljug.

No-one was injured in the attack. "The aim of the assailants was to intimidate Serbs, thereby dissuading them from settling down in their new homes. Two days ago unknown perpetrators cut the power cable and took away the electrical fittings from one of the houses, as well as putting up an Albanian flag on another house also under construction," Vulic said.

The incidents have been reported to the Kosovo Police Service.
