COURT SENTENCES EX-ALBANIAN REBEL LEADER TO 12 YEARS' IMPRISONMENT

Gnjilane, 25 June: The former commander of the outlawed Liberation Army of
Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, Shefket Musliu, was sentenced to twelve years'
imprisonment today.
The international chamber of the Gnjilane District Court found Musliu guilty of
abduction (of) a number of people and attempted extortion during ethnic clashes
in southern Serbia (during 2000-2001).
Five other charges were dismissed for lack of evidence.
Two of Musliu's associates were also jailed Besima Tahirija for seven years for
abduction and Feiz Cerimij for five years (names as published).
Charges against two others, including Musliu's brother, were dismissed for lack
of evidence.
