Milosevic unable to defend himself

THE HAGUE -- Wednesday – Slobodan Milosevic’s doctors are recommending against Milosevic representing himself during the defense portion of his trial at The Hague Tribunal, due to his failing health.

Doctors say that the former president of Yugoslavia would be able to attend the trial as the defendant but his health is too poor to allow him to act as his own lawyer.

The Tribunal agrees. They have recommended to Milosevic, several times, to give the case to another lawyer, but he has rejected the suggestion each time.

Milosevic’s trial is scheduled to restart on August 31.
