Kerry for
quick fix in Kosovo
BBC Serbian / B92 - July 28, 2004
LONDON -- Wednesday – US Democratic presidential hopeful John Kerry has told
voters of Albanian extraction that, if he wins the election, the US will again
take a leading role in the Balkans and especially in Kosovo.
In a statement carried by the BBC, Kerry promised a quick solution for Kosovo’s
final status and dismissed any proposals for the division of the province along
ethnic lines.
Washington Balkans observer Daniel Server, commenting on the difference in
Democrat and Republican policies on Kosovo, said that if the Bush administration
remains in power it would be happy with any agreement between Pristina and
Belgrade as long as it did not endanger the sovereignty of Macedonia or Bosnia.
