KOSOVO SERB BODY CONDEMNS DECISION TO SWITCH POWER OFF TO SERB-POPULATED AREAS
BBC Monitoring International Reports - December 8, 2004

Text of report by Belgrade-based private BKTV on 8 December

The Serb National Council (SNV) for Kosovo-Metohija has described the decision made by the Kosovo Energy Corporation to cut off Serb-populated villages the electricity grid as a deliberate act to undermine the survival of the Serbs in the province.

The Serb National Council has condemned this act, which demands that the Serbs pay for their electricity for the past five years so that it can be supplied back to them. The SNV has recalled that the Serbs cannot retroactively pay for their dues because the majority of them have been chased away from their jobs since the arrival of the international troops, and they now have no income.
