KOSOVO SERB JOURNALIST BEATEN UP IN PRISTINA CAFE
BBC Monitoring International Reports - December 24, 2004

Text of report by Belgrade-based private BKTV on 24 December

Presenter: Pristina journalist Nikola Besevic has been attacked by a group of (ethnic) Albanians in a downtown (Pristina) cafe, who inflicted serious injuries to his body, because he asked for a service in Serbian.

I was admitted to hospital (in Pristina) where they merely registered my presence and released me immediately, Besevic said. Dissatisfied with the treatment in the Pristina hospital, he went to the hospital in Kosovska Mitrovica where doctors diagnosed serious head, back and arms injuries. Nikola Besevic is one of few Serb journalists who did not leave Pristina.
