Covic about Albanians' plans: Dangerous maneuver
Blic - December 13, 2004

It is almost certain that the Hague Tribunal shall raise indictment against the actual Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj for war crimes committed in Kosovo and Metohija.

'His appointment is a tactical maneuver aimed to exclude Serbs from the process of negotiation over the final status of the province. Unrest and incidents because of Haradinaj's extradition would only contribute to decrease of the number of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija to the extent that the negotiations over anything else but independence would be unnecessary', Nebojsa Covic, president of Coordination Center for Kosovo and Metohija claims for 'Blic'.

'Upon opening of the indictment, the international community shall insist that Haradinaj acts in line with his positive statements, keeps his word and turns himself voluntarily in and appeal to his co-citizens to restrain from violence in the name of Kosovo future. If he succeeds in that, no doubt the Contact Group shall conclude that the society in Kosovo has completely fulfilled criteria', Covic says. He also claims that the actual unfavorable position of Belgrade caused by internal political conflicts and lack of requested level of cooperation with the Hague Tribunal is going to have important role regardless of the final outcome.
