BELGRADE, August 2 - One more group of Serb children arrives on Monday in
Russia, where they will spend summer holidays at recreation centres outside
Moscow.
Ninety children form Kosovo and Belgrade and ten tutors will arrive on Monday in
Moscow. On August 16, another group of Serb children will replace them to stay
at suburban recreation camps till August 29.
These groups include children studying Russian as well as those, who have faced
tragedies in their lives - their parents were killed, houses destroyed, or they
have suffered from the genocide against the Serb population of Kosovo.
The action is carried out within the framework of agreements reached between the
mayors of Moscow and Belgrade. The Moscow government meets the expenses of their
trip and holidays at recreation centres.
Several dozen Serb children spent New Year holidays in Moscow at the invitation
of Mayor Yuri Luzhkov within the framework of a program for the development of
friendly ties between the two capitals. In June, 540 children from Kosovo spent
three weeks in seven regions of Central Russia.
