Prishtina [Pristina], 18 January: The spokesperson for the Kosova [Kosovo]
Negotiation Team, Skender Hyseni, said today that the Kosovar side will not
accept any package by Ahtisaari that does not include independence.
According to him, independence is the key issue of this process, adding that
there will be no changes.
Hyseni said that people of Kosova are aware of the stance that we will not agree
about anything else, except the independence of Kosova.
Hyseni furthermore said that the purpose of this process was to reach the
independence of Kosova, adding that there is no need to add more to what was
initially said in the preamble document presented in Vienna that "everything is
acceptable and applicable, only in the independent and sovereign state of Kosova".
On the other hand, some say, that after Ahtisaari presents the package, there
might be other consultations as well, but not similar to talks in Vienna, since
Prishtina believes there is nothing to be negotiated with Belgrade.
