Macedonia: Road - Blockades near Tetovo's
village of Chelopek

TETOVO - Hunderds of ethnic Albanians from Tetovo's ethnically mixed village of
Chelopek staged road blockades on Thuirsday protesting on reconstruction of
motel "Brioni", which was blow up with explosives during the war conflict in
2001.
The owners of the motel announced they will put the stone of foundation of the
new sport center and a memorial plate for Svetislav Trpkovski and Boge Ilievski
who were brutally killed by Albanian terrorists.
The latest examinations of the bodies, and the crime scene showed that they were
undressed, probably sexually harassed, tide to the pole of the building, had
explosive attached on their bodies and detonated.
"There are still unsolved ownership relations and we will not allow placing of
the memorial plate, because the police didn't find the perpetrators", one of the
residents of Chelopek said, refusing to identify himself.
The family members of killed Macedonians went to "Brioni" after the visit of the
graves of the dead. Because of the road-blockade, they will wait till 16:00
hours to enter in the motel and to pay a tribute to the killed.
There are representatives of the police, OSCE and European monitoring "Proxima"
mission at the place of the blockade. No major incident so far have been
reported.
But, a small incident was naticed when the Albanians didn't allow a family
member of one of the killed to cross the blockade and to visit Brioni. They
voiced many insults.
