Article from Defense and Foreign Affairs Strategic Policy: Three Groups of the Mujahedeen from BiH Preparing Space for Attacks in Rome During Pope’s Funeral
Patriot - September 30, 2004

Sources in BiH say that all three groups are now on the way to Italy and their task is to prepare for “big event” in case that Pope dies any time soon. The sources stated that the groups were told that due to arrival of many important politicians and heads of states that will come to the funereal; this would be the best opportunity to punish Italy for participating in so called “war against terror” and for supporting coalition war in Iraq.

This will also be a chance to send a message to “everyone else”. Source from GIS (Global Information System) from Sarajevo said that on September 19, 2004, three groups of the Mjahedeen fighters connected with Al Qaeda who were trained in BiH in triangle between Tuzla, Zenica and Brcko (village of Maoca), have left BiH recently and most likely went towards Italy.

Several GIS’s sources within Islamic Community pointed out that members of those three groups are not informed about each other’s missions. According to received information, their target will be funeral preparations, ambush of the ill Pope in Rome.

Sources also stated that the three groups are tasked to investigate and find out following:

1. How to purchase weapons/explosive and other devices in Italy (probably from Italian Red Berets);

2. Ceremony plan from Vatican or any other source in case of Pope’s death and funeral;

3 Where most of the world’s leaders will be accommodated;

4. Where exactly the central ceremony will be held, and how possible it would be to hide explosive at that location or somewhere else in the vicinity of that location;

5. Where most of people will be located except the central ceremony area;

6. Anything else that could be relevant for this operation.

All three groups understood that different tasks from this plan were given to them. GIS’s sources stated that group which was trained in Brcko (in Maoca village) is supervised by head of those training camps and head of Islamists in this area, Kenan Bajric, (working in local police), and also stated that Bajric recently applied for position in SIPA.

One of the three groups of Mujahedeen was trained recently in a house owned by Hajrudin Ribic who was wounded during the war. He is taxi driver and drives white vehicle Passat, license plates No. 367-E-667, and he is the member of Wahhabi within Islamic Community.

According to our sources, different groups of the Mujahedeen come to a house owned by Hajrudin’s father, where they stay for ten days without leaving the house. GIS sources said they believe that each group that comes to this house is exposed to intensive propaganda, which is the part of their preparations for operations.

Connection with group from abroad goes through Muhedin Aleta, who lives in Vienna (Austria). He visits Maoca or Rahic frequently and brings money.

Muhedin is brother of Mustafa Aleta who was trained in Iraq and Turkey.

Many Wahhabis live in Austria and in Germany including the following:

1. Suljo Delic (father’s name: Halil) from Maoca – now living in Austria;

2. Sadik Kopcalic (Salih) working in Germany;

3. Megdin Delic from Maoca, now he is working in Austria and he is married to Mujahedeen’s widow;

4. Dzevdo Kopcalic (Sadik) now working in Germany;

5. “EMIE” Sabahudin from Raska (Sandzak in Serbia) was boxer in Austria. Phone number in Austria: 066/750-952. He is Islamist leader in Gornja Maoca and has many connections with radical Islamists in Austria Raska (Sandzak).
