MAIN BOSNIAN SERB PARTY SLAMS PRESIDENT FOR
CALLING FOR ABOLITION OF SERB ENTITY
SRNA - June 11, 2004
Banja Luka, 11 June: The Serb Democratic Party (SDS) condemns most strongly a
statement by the Bosniak member of the Bosnia-Hercegovina Presidency and SDA
(Party of Democratic Action) chairman, Sulejman Tihic, that "the existence of
the Serb Republic should be reassessed", and it regards it as a continuation of
a political and media campaign against the Serb Republic and the Dayton-based
constitutional order in Bosnia-Hercegovina which has been waged over the past
few days.
"Instead of reassessing the existence of the Serb Republic, which the SDA wants,
the international community should look into anti-Dayton statements by leader
Sulejman Tihic, who is working against the Dayton Agreement, peace and stability
of the country which he is heading thanks to the Dayton Agreement," s statement
says.
The SDS stresses that "it would be better for Tihic himself to examine the
existence and role of Islamic warriors, who came at the invitation of top SDA
officials during the last war," the statement stresses.
The SDS notes that Tihic's anti-Dayton statements must not remain unpunished and
that "Tihic and all those thinking like him should be told once more that the
Serb Republic exists because the Serb people wanted it to".
"Its existence cannot be brought into question and it will never depend on the
will of individuals regardless of their national or political affiliation," the
statement says.
