Macedonian capital
SRNA - August 5, 2004
Skopje, 5 August: Several people were wounded and around hundred vehicles stoned
during last night's clashes between local Albanians and the protesters against
the new territorial division of Macedonia in the Skopje suburb of Cair, SRNA's
correspondent reports.
The protest was organized by the VMRO-DPMNE Internal Macedonian Revolutionary
Organization-Democratic Party for Macedonian National Unity , the largest
opposition party in the Macedonian parliament.
Deputy chairwoman of this party, Ganka Samoilova-Cvetanovska, said that the road
for around hundred vehicles which took part in the protests was blocked by
rubbish containers, after which the Albanians attacked the protesters by
throwing stones at them.
Police members stood near the place of the incident, but they did not intervene.
