SHOTS REPORTEDLY FIRED AT SERB RETURNEES IN WESTERN KOSOVO VILLAGE

SRNA - October 9, 2004

Pristina, 8 October: A number of short bursts of fire from automatic weapons were fired at Serb returnee houses in the village of Grabac near Klina at about 1900 (1700 gmt). There were no casualties or injuries, the Belgrade media has reported.

The shots caused alarm and fear amongst Grabac locals, who said that the shots were fired from the village of Josanica, inhabited solely by (ethnic) Albanians.

Kfor (NATO-led Kosovo Force) forces located in the area were reinforced by UNMIK (UN Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo) police following the shooting.

Shots were fired at Serb returnees in the villages of Grabac and Bica on 17 March (2004), during the attacks by Albanian extremists in Kosovo, and then also there were no casualties.
