Socialists embittered
by ban to visit Milosevic
Tanjug - August 19, 2003
17:38 BELGRADE - The Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) on Tuesday voiced
strong protest with a decision of the International Criminal Tribunal for the
Former Yugoslavia (ICTY) administration to ban the visits of its representatives
and the Association Freedom for SPS president and former Yugoslav president
Slobodan Milosevic, announcing it would employ all mechanisms aimed at
suspending this decision.
The ICTY administration is "trying to explain" this decision by statements SPS
members made after their recent visit to Milosevic at the Scheveningen detention
unit, the party said in a statement and added that this was really "an excuse
aimed at placing president Milosevic in complete isolation."
